Synthesizer keyboard assemblies

2000-09-29 by The Old Crow

Heya folks,

After searching the web for an hour, I've come to the conclusion that no
one makes keyboard assemblies anymore. Does anyone know where I can get,
say, a 61-note keyboard rank *new* as opposed to tearing it out of some
defunct electronic organ or whatnot?

I wish Pratt-Read was still in the keyboard-unit business.

Do you mean just the keyboard / electronics, without the case?

The mechanical keyboard and switch assembly, which may have matrix
diodes included. No other electronics. See the following (Japanese) URL
for an example:

Fatar manufactures the ones used in Waldorf and Ensoniq keyboards. It seems
to me they do the Doepfer keyboards as well...? At any rate, perhaps they'd
be willing to sell you what you're interested in. I couldn't find a website
for them, but look on http://www.harmoney-central.com for some contact
information.

Help that helps, but I suspect you already knew about Fatar... :)

This came up a while ago on a similar thread; not sure if he still has any:

Last time I checked on Musikmesse (a couple of years ago), Fatar
displayed a dozen different keyboards, and some excellent ones
amongst them (which you won't likely find in typical $2500
synthesizers - I guess they sell them to church organ manufacturers
where money is a different issue ...), but they would by no means sell
to end users.

RE: [motm] look on http://www.harmoney-central.com for some crap

2000-09-30 by Tony Karavidas

Can anyone explain why is it when I click on Paul's link below I get 9
instances of various crap websites instead of harmony central????

Nevermind.... Look at the spelling.... It's supposed to be:
http://www.harmony-central.com

And Korg and Roland.... my understanding is that Fatar pretty much supplies
the world with keyboards these days.

I'd swear that I used to see raw Fatar hammer actions available on
the Doepfer site somewhere. I just looked and couldn't find them
anymore - maybe they had some surplus stock and sold them?
