Synthesizer basics

2000-11-01 by ivancu@aol.com

Someone a while ago was asking about books and such to learn the very basics
of synthesis. Here is a very general overview available online:

http://hem.passagen.se/tkolb/art/synth/what_e.htm

The "components" area talks about specifics such as VCO's etc.

h3y ivan,
i think that was probably me. i'm not lookin' for synth basics,
though. i understand that to a usable extent. well, at least
subtractive. i'm more interested in the wonderous beauty that is cv.
all the glorious ins an' outs in one compellin' book. it would
probably make more sense to me if'n my kits ever arrive (no paul, i'm
not harpin' on you, i realise you're busy)
and controllers especially sequencers. hard to visualise an
understandin' with no toys to play with. tryin' to acquire allen
strange's book, but seem to be either a day late or $400(i'm not
kiddin' here) short. still need to hit the nscc or uw, but haven't
yet had the time. tried sts, they haven't returned my call, tried
again and their voice mail was full. eventually methinks...
peace,
doc

doc,
keep up the pursuit....this is, IMHO, THE best book on the subject. they do
turn up, you may just have to be patient.
best,

h3y dave,
i realised patience was key when harvestbooks.com found me a copy in
36 hours for the modest sum of $400. when asked if'n it was a typo
she apologised profusely sayin' it was not, but she'd continue to
search...
peace,
doc
