Mini Wave Manual and TIMBRE MODULATOR

Mini Wave Manual and TIMBRE MODULATOR

2000-11-13 by thomas white

Try this link to the Wiard Mini-Wave manual for those interested...

http://www.wiard.com/Grants%201200/MiniWave/MiniManual.html

I found this link on accident searching for information on "Timbre
Modulators". I have a circuit design in my Barry Klein schematic book. Does
anybody know of this design and if it is good to build? Will MOTM have a
timbre modulator? What is the Oakley Wave Folder in comparison?
How many out ther have built the Wave Folder?

TIMBRE MODULATOR!!! I need information, can anybody help me?

hello all,

i have the Oakley Wavefolder, and i absolutely love it (Tony assures me it
can also be used as an envelope follower - but what a waste...)
when i first plugged it in, i likened it to an Eventide Omnipressor for
savage VCA action on drumloops, i've also used it for more subtle stuff, but
it is usually the first port of call for anything coming out of my sampler
(modulated by an envelope follower of course...)

anymore questions - just give me a private email
cheers

thomas,
i`m sorry to say that the klein book is one that i don`t have so i`m not sure
what timbre modulator he presents there. from following "electronotes" and
"polyphony" from years gone by, i know that there is certainly an assortment
of designs to consider. IMHO, ANY of them would be a good starting addition
to a modular synth just to open up a different world of timbre`s beyond those
available from filter manipulations. years back, when i had a serge system,
i was very pleased with their wave multiplier module. currently, from the
evil brand "d" system, i have both of their wave processing modules. i use
them both and they do sound very different from each other ( one is basically
a v.c. clipper, the other does some more complex transformations on
waveforms, also under v.c. ). they were certainly very worthwhile additions
to my modular. i think it would be interesting to see what might spring from
m.o.t.m. in this area ! still, the time delay might be too great for the
anxious to wait..... in that vein, i`ve heard good things from other folks on
the list about oakley stuff. my guess is that getting his wave folder to add
to a system is a very safe decision to make.
best,
dave v.
