300 VCO soft sync mod?

300 VCO soft sync mod?

2000-12-27 by jwbarlow@aol.com

Does anyone have the latest (best?) soft sync mod for the 300 handy? I'm
finishing changing out my jacks (and replacing my substandard switches -- I
broke em while trying to compete with Larry for the Mr. MOTM Universe
competition) in the rest of my MOTM, and I have these resistors dangling off
the sync inputs for reasons which I can't remember.

Inquiring minds want to know - why are you changing out your jacks?

Cause,

they're driving me.....

BANANAS!

I used em so they'd be compatible with the Serge and my diy stuff (such as it
is). But Paul is putting in too many normalized connections, and my MOTM
started getting bigger than my other stuff, so I finally relented a few
months ago and changed out about half. I was waiting to finish until the
illusive flat cabinet rails were ready, but.....

That's it Larry! Thanks! I probably do have an updated instruction manual
since I didn't buy my VCOs at the same time. The manual that I looked at
didn't have any mention of it.

The "official" MOTM soft sync mod is to put a 4K7 resistor in series with
the sync jack connection. This shows up in the latest revision to the 300
documentation (published on 7/25/99 after many of us built our first round
of VCOs) on page 17. The unused top lug on the jack is used for the
connection point so the resistor does not need to dangle like it does on
those crummy jacks (bananas weren't they) you were using. :) The wire to
the PCB connects to the top lug and the resistor goes from top to left.
