more stupid guitar crap

Several things: I had a friend who would play his bass with a, um, vibrator. Very interesting, as the guitar pickup picks up the vibrations of the motor inside. Also, another acquaintance would stick a batttery operated tv (back when they were fairly large) up to the pickups of his bass. Yet another weird sound. Me personally, here's my thing: if your guitar is feeding back (I recommend using a compressor pedal to avoid excessive hearing loss), you can sing or scream into the pickup & some sound will travel through the pickups to the amp. I also played my casio sk5 into the pickups, & that came through great. As for elhardt's thing of using a cello body with a synth patch: I have been thinking along these lines myself. A preliminary observation: I mic'ed an autoharp while I played sax to pick up its string vibrations as I played. Not the greatest effect in the world. The only way I can see using an istrument with strings is if they're fretted to go along with the sound source vibrating them. Also, I plan to use a messed up acoustic guitar as a resonating body. I'll report back when I get that all working. Oh, and all of this sort of reminded me of a webpage that dexcribes how to make a spring reverb from a slinky-can't remember the address, but it looked amusing. tomr _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
