I've had my M400 since 1975, and I'd be unhappy if my red cap was lost or broken beyond repair, to put it mildly!
I have some experience in custom made plastic products, and I'm afraid they wouldn't be inexpensive at all, sorry to say.
For obvious reasons these folks like quantity (1000s), so, say run of 100 could end up costing $100 per at zero profit.
I'm all for the "for the cause, zero profit", but at $100 per, how many are missing, and how many would be willingto pay?
Love to be completely wrong about this, so please voice your opinion.

If you do you know you'll have a small guaranteed market for that part. If your capital outlay is small, or none, then I say go for it.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
