Water. Maybe with a spot of dishwashing liquid, but keep it super-mild. It  
is, after all, only dust. I think it is more likely static build-up. Try  
removing the frames between uses.

PS. If you want those tapes really clean, use alcohol. Keep rubbing until  
all the oxide comes off.

I'm beginning to think that the backs of the tapes that were bunching up in 
 my M4oo are dirty. I hadn't cleaned the pinch rollers since I installed 
them a  couple of years ago and I've been using the same frame for several 
weeks. It  looks like the backs of the tapes were sticking to the pinch 
rollers. After  cleaning the pinch rollers, heads and capstan, the tapes were still 
bunching  up, so I tried a different frame. No bunching at all. Do tapes 
need to be  cleaned every so often? What do you use to clean  them?
