See, that's strange because James Parthun's #872 Dennytron has a later  
motor card. Was it common for people to retrofit their Mellotrons with newer  
motor control cards? Were they available separately back then?

Well it wasn't that early on! #1565 has one and I think they only started  
using the new controller card around the time #1565 was produced so wouldn't 
 most M400's have the cm10, mine sounds ok, I think!
