OK. Here is a tune from the same album

OK. Here is a tune from the same album

Couldn't post the full song, because it is 33 megs. But this is half of it. You will hear my Moog Rogue, a Yamaha CP70, a Hammond A100 and leslie and gobs of tron. What you won't hear because of file constraints is my tron through a Leslie. : )

Sounds great John. If you lower the resolution of the file you should be able to reduce the file size dramatically
and still have good fidelity..

Don't fear 192 or even 128 unless it's going to be played on a good hi fi. Even 128 is ok for times when
you need to transfer via email and size is an issue....and any rate(no pun) it would be nice to hear the
full tune....Lowering the resolution probably won't affect the tron sound much :).

dump mp3 altogether and go AAC for compressed files. Much sweeter in general than mp3 at any bit rate.

AAC may sound a bit brighter at lower encoding rates but at higher rates the is little or no difference. The mp3 format is
more universal and renders a smaller file size.

There is nothing to fight about….both formats work fine but some people may have to load iTunes

to play AAC files. Everyone can play mp3s. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me. J

Hang around for a while John, and you will see plenty of nasty fights but we are a pretty thick skinned group

and always recover from our outbursts at each other…..we’re one big dysfunctional opinionated family. J

I’m not particularly an Apple fan either.

There is nothing to fight about….both formats work fine but some people may have to load iTunes
to play AAC files. Everyone can play mp3s. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me. J

My wife allows me to "manipulate it" at least once a day...:>)

Thankfully my computer is the servant and works to understand me rather than the opposite and yes, all the ugly stuff is hidden from me as I am not a programmer, with the exception of being a newbie on Max for Live. What it does allow me to do is run well over 120 tracks of audio from an 8 year old 1.25ghz x2 G4 without ever freezing. My 8 core at work has let me stream at least 128 tracks of VI's along with gobs of audio, all sprayed heavily with goops of plugins. If I need a Windows program, well, I just boot it up. It appears to me that Mr Gates' software runs pretty well on Mr Job's machines, even faster in my very subjective and non-techy view.

The battery on my wife's HP laptop runs a long time :>)

RE: [newmellotrongroup] Re: OK. Here is a tune from the same album

2011-06-05 by Gary Brumm

They do build the Macs in a pretty box appealing to the feminine side…..for over function has kept them with a tiny market share over all these years. Thankfully they were saved by getting

rid of their OS and using a version of Free BSN Unix (that isn’t free from Apple) and are now using the Intel platform that Windows has been on forever. They

started making music players and phones I think that is their main product now. Too bad the IPhone is losing market share.

Full Disclosure: I do own an iTouch but haven’t used it since my new Windows Mobile 7 phone has Zune built in (without all of the iPod’s limitations).

Ok….that should set this list on fire for a few weeks and give John a taste of the “fight” he is looking for! J

We can probably save time by cutting and pasting our comments from past “discussions” as our opinions have not likely changed.

Again…Welcome John….You were warned!! J

There is evil amongst us…..we must use the force.

….we must never distract Fritz from his self-manipulation (why do you think his wife allows it? J)!!

OK, boys. Don't make me break out my years on UNIX boxes and animation systems on you. Those were machines that would do whatever you told them to. You just had to figure out how.

An old joke about Macs we used to make went like this:

Macintosh: a rudimentary computer designed for the blissfully ignorant or novice user. Made overly large so that it cannot be accidentally inserted into the rectum, but with rounded corners and edges in case one manages to do so anyhow.

About PCs? It was along the lines of: It looks like the kid got your looks and her brains.

With that said, Macs are a fantastic platform for audio recording and editing, and if I ever become a real person again, I'll be purchasing one for that purpose.

My wife allows me to "manipulate it" at least once a day...:>)

Thankfully my computer is the servant and works to understand me rather
than the opposite and yes, all the ugly stuff is hidden from me as I am not
a programmer, with the exception of being a newbie on Max for Live. What
it does allow me to do is run well over 120 tracks of audio from an 8 year
old 1.25ghz x2 G4 without ever freezing. My 8 core at work has let me stream
at least 128 tracks of VI's along with gobs of audio, all sprayed heavily
with goops of plugins. If I need a Windows program, well, I just boot it
up. It appears to me that Mr Gates' software runs pretty well on Mr Job's
machines, even faster in my very subjective and non-techy view.

The battery on my wife's HP laptop runs a long time :>)

So Fritz..... Your computer.....does it allow you to manipulate and
understand it, or is all that ugly stuff hidden or locked away from you? ; )
