Thanks very much Tony.

I actually used the Mark II 3 violins for this piece. The tapes came with the machine and are probably at least 20 years old but not the original tapes the machine was shipped with. The tapes aren't in great shape, well the tron isn't either, and I was surprised at how good they can sound.

Until I owned a tron I always favoured the M300a violins, try as I might I can't get the sound I want out of them, I firmly believe on no evidence whatsoever that you need an M300 to play them on. I am beginning to prefer the sound of the 3 violins.

Hi Mark- Again, very nice work and sound. I have The M300 A,B and String Section for the M400 and they are challenging to get to sound right.
The tuning on the B is a bit weird and needs to be tweaked as you go. Of the three I like the Section - has a very smooth sound that is great for background . The A is somewhat thin if you don't get the reverb just right.

Mellotonus

Well, I enjoyed it.

Frank Stickle suggested the Microkorg to me when I was looking for a portable synth, I must say it's my favourite synth, produces some wonderful sounds.

I tend to play my Microkorg using my Korg K61P midi controller as I find the mini keys a bit of a pain. I've heard people say good things about the Alesis micron ( which has standard keys ) as an alternative but I haven't played one. The 61P is my second favourite syth it has 24 inbuilt sounds and 2 effects so I spend more time playing than twiddling the knobs!

Mark,

I've had two Microns and the MicroKorg. The Microns are awesome machines
and have the same engine as the Ion. There is a more powerful vocoder in the
Micron and it has tons of cool presets. However, I run my MicroKorg through
my Triton and use that keyboard much of the time. I love the ease of
programing of the MicroKorg. I also like the ability (with battery power) to
play it anywhere, including on an airplane or out on the back deck.

That’s understandable, but I don’t have big hands, so it’s not an issue for me.
I remember the original MicroKorg in the late 70's, it was a great sounding synth too.
Technology sure has given us a lot better one!

I've had a microKorg a while now and I'm always amazed at the size of the sound such a little synth can produce. It's not a bad controller - the keys are about as small as you can get away with - and the vocoder isn't any slouch either. As for programming it, all I have to say is 'M1' to those who know and you might run away screaming. I hated that instrument.

Well done, Tom! The tone progressions are very Crimson-esque (a good thing).

Agreed on the MicroKorg. I have the big brother MS2000 and it's the only hardware analog modeling synth I own. Lovely work by Korg on that one.

Frank Stickle suggested the Microkorg to me when I was looking for a portable synth, I must say it's my favourite synth, produces some wonderful sounds.

Well it sure sounds fantastic Mark!

I meant the Mark II violins, but I missed it when I proof or “goof” read it.
For me there is almost no such thing as “too much effects”, love my delays and such.

Your post was a double treat, as I recently purchased a MicroKorg XL, and that little sucks kicks some serious butt .

I just ordered the Kawai MiniAK, and it has full size keys.
These keyboard have brought the fun back for me, they’re great and affordable.
