I offer top dollar for original M-Tron.

2012-01-06 by jamiealleninny

Hi y'all:
I am looking for an original Mellotron from the 60's and I am willing to pay top dollar for the right one. It will be a gift for a very special someone.
I have been doing some research. May be someone on this group may help me find it or is willing to sell. These are my conditions.
1) It has to be in top shape.
2) Not a barn garbage or not working unit or partially working keyboard.
3) In 100 % ORIGINAL condition. No a "Streetly serviced" or refurbished unit or any crap like that.
4) If possible, I would like to have also original sets of recordings with the keyboard.
5) I don't mind the model as the previous 4 conditions are there.
Please send me some pictures or video to my email and the price you are looking for. I will be in touch with you within a week.
Thank you. Have a great day.
Jamie

Hello Jamie,

An interesting request. If you find a mellotron that is in top condition,
fully working like the day it was built, that has never been serviced let
alone refurbished(heaven forbid), please let us know because in all these
years of doing this, we have never found one that fits this category. Good
luck.......you'll need it.

Best,

Martin and John

With respect. The work that Streetly, or anyone else on this list do to these very rare machines is most definately NOT crap, and IF you are lucky enough to find one which I very much doubt, they will be the first people you'll phone to get the thing working properly!

No a "Streetly serviced" or refurbished unit or any crap like that.

Thanks John and Andy. We are all thinking the same. It seems to me that

3) In 100 % ORIGINAL condition. No a "Streetly serviced" or refurbished unit or any crap like that.

You're an obvious ASS! I guess you have no sense of these or any other vintage instrument, mechanical apparatus. You'll never ever find an original tron in top shape that hasn't been serviced. I doubt there are more than a handful of people in the world who could tell the difference between an expertly refurbed model and an original in top shape and you have just insulted that handful, who happen to be on this list.

Money can't buy love, but I suggest you spend a little of yours on some manners. Maybe you might want to look up the definition of research in a dictionary as it is obvious your research has been minimal at best.

This shit pisses me off.

You can look for the rest of your life and not find what you've just asked for, because it doesn't exist. There were, at tops, 350 - 400 Trons made in the 1960s (of all models put together) and of all the ones still known to exist, not a one of them has not been "serviced" or "refurbished". If you find one that hasn't been "serviced" or "refurbished" you will find a non-working Mellotron.

If you are indeed seriously interested in purchasing such a machine, and not, as I suspect, some teen aged boy looking to stir up trouble, I would be very curious to know what you consider top dollar.

One last piece of advice. Work on your manners. An arrogant prick is no way to go through life.
best,
john

I think the guy is trying to blow smoke up our asses, just to piss us off.
Notice the subject line (M-Tron), we don’t refer to our machines that way.
Then it turns into Mellotron in the body of the message.
A 60’s Mellotron, what are those odds?
I say “consider the source, and forget him”.
Sounds to me like our friends over the pond have dealt with him already.

Hi, knobhead -

1. Your quest is futile. You may as well look for a 1960 Ford Zodiac that hasn't been run, serviced, or had any spare parts since 1965 and yet which can still start, let alone anything else. You don't understand the instrument you are trying to buy. Good news for the seller, bad news for you.

2. Streetly don't produce 'crap'. Maybe you aren't aware of this, but what they do is keep instruments that are over forty years old in perfect working order.

3. You're an arsehole.

If i remember correctly didn't a completely unused M400 come up on ebay a few years ago. I think it might have been a sounds systems version and there was some debate on the list as to whether anybody would dare to turn it on.

Subject: [newmellotrongroup] I offer top dollar for original M-Tron.

Jamie

It came here from CA and although it had all these glorious claims, it was shite! Unused translates into unuseable.

Thank you Vance. It's all about evacuation now isn't it!

p.s. So, I met a Hammond guru, who lives about 15 minutes from me. He's serviced all the NY/ NJ royalty and we know a lot of the same folks. My M3 is going on a road trip soon along with a case of Blue Moon. I'm very psyched to learn from a seasoned pro on the ins and outs of owning a Hammond. The 145 is ready to be reassembled as well. Enough about me....

Can't help thinking this joker is a mere troll, maybe with a ridiculous grudge against the esteemed Streetly chaps. I did see that the original post was made throught he Yahoo web interface to the group so look at the rply to address: so theye have absolutely no intention of being contacted or are incredibly stupid. Or both.......

Can the list be configured to stop anonymous posts maybe. Wouldn't stop the sex posts we get from time to time but at least they cause a little amusement in the group.

Nic's question: Can the list be configured to stop anonymous posts?
Anyone can join the group. jamiealleninny joined on Jan 6th, dropped his troll bomb and then deleted his yahoo account. I can't do anything about that shit.

Could it be this Jamie Allen - Bret Michaels wannabe? http://www.jamieallenrocks.com/home.html

Not exactly a '55 Les Paul, but I do have a 1970's Mosrite 350 stereo with the original strings, case (with key) and included black Ace strap -- but it has been played and will never be sold while I'm alive!

Fritz, I have a couple of Hammond amps from chop jobs (my age is showing) that you can strip for parts if you do the authentic replacement parts thing.. Personally I only recommend tube sockets and tubes and the like but Bob Moog reconditioned electrolytic caps.

Fritz, I have a couple of Hammond amps from chop jobs (my age is showing) that you can strip for parts if you do the authentic replacement parts thing.. Personally I only recommend tube sockets and tubes and the like but Bob Moog reconditioned electrolytic caps.

RE: [newmellotrongroup] I offer top dollar for original M-Tron.

At the very least I would recommend changing the filter caps, ideally all of the electrolytics. Go for new ones. You can always hide them inside the hollowed-out shells of the originals or inside the chassis, as modern equivalents tend to be smaller in size. A fresh rectifier tube is a sound idea too, protect your ageing mains transformer. If your vibrato is a little on the gurgly side replace the line box capacitors with a set from Goff Professional, you may wish to do this to the generator too if it seems a little dull. On an M3 they will be old waxed paper types, they tend to stray significantly off-value after all this time. A bussbar cleanup makes a big difference too.

Love and Scones,

I am watching these proceedings with great interest as I have an M that has worked without fail since 1955 but could use a good sprucing up!

Right to my "favorites" on YouTube.

I never have found out; what make and model of electric keyboard are sitting on top of the trons in Crimson-II?

Too right! I have a 1962 C3 that still hasn't had the manuals out, wax cap type.. Apart from valves and a couple of filter caps she's original- if somewhat battered- and sounds great..
I have a couple of dodgy key contacts but that's about it.. I keep the TWG oiled, it spins up in no time and takes forever to spin down when switched off. A fabulous piece of engineering.

FYI

That footage is available on the bonus DVD in the latest reissue of the "Red" cd.

Also, the other electric keyboard that someone asked about is a Hohner pianet. Not sure exactly which model.

and make sure I have the owner's address too.The Pindertron appears to have

did something to it and I have to resynch everything. Jerry Korn is going to
walk me through it.

I've been pretty messed up for the last few months. I was actually starting

Thanks Mark, It's been a rough and scary few months. Still is. I never
meant any of you to know. I've known Jim Strauss from long before the Mellotron
group and I should have checked. I thought he had emailed me directly. I
will recover.

Best,

In this email group ,.even a simple "reply" puts it all out there for
everyone...

Sorry Frank, I should've sent this last email about Tronman's DVD via
personal email but

I figured not hearing from you on my prior email to you at AOL that perhaps
that account was not in service.

Anyway...I think it is just as well we know. You have friends here.

We go back a ways Frank, and life's thrown you a few punches and you always
land on your feet.

You have a support system here among us.starting with me. If there's
anything I can do let me know.

Just wish I still lived up your way.

Jim

Jamie:
Your manners are absolutely terrible.
You must be 'the right person' to own one of these things. Just having money alone isn't going to cut it because if you're rude and obnoxious - no one is going to want to deal with you.
Time is worth more to us than money, and we're not here to service you. We all have enough going on as it is.
Does 'inny' mean you9;ve got an ingrown penis?
That might explain your mammoth f**k head social skills.
Sorry Jamie y'all.
