OT.. Otari MX5050 help needed...

OT.. Otari MX5050 help needed...

2012-02-24 by Mark Wallis

Hi folks...

I desperately need a new pinch roller or even just a grindable rubber sleeve for a 1/2" 8-track OTARI MX5050. The old one has turned to cheese. The centre/bearing is perfectly good.

Can anyone help here? The machine is otherwise fine now.. but I can't finish the job -and get paid- without a new roller. The owner would really like his machine back. I'd really like to get paid and get the sodding thing off my bench and out of my sight forever.

UK personages- my number is 07931 465 048.

Love and Scones,

Wallis x

Your local rubber belt suppliers should pich a pinch roller relapping service, They tend to be poly rather than rubber. as long as you have a good bearing sleeve they can make them up for not very much.

I can only find guys here in the states. There are a few....but for reliability, try JRF Magnetics. They are excellent.

http://www.jrfmagnetics.com/index.html?JRF_mainframe=/audioprices.html

I'm sure they can drop ship it right quick for you.

Good luck!

No problems....replacement is always preferred to resurfacing. Besides, the new rubber formulas are less liable to turn to gunk.

I am just thankful that they keep making rollers, belts, reconing kits and heads. I still like tape . I got one of those Neve things with a tape head in the circuit. Still learning touseit.
