Does anyone have experience with RMGI Studio Master (also known as
EMTEC similar to Quantegy GP9) or ATR Magnetics Master Tape?

Clay,
Yes, I use it a whole bunch. I have some 50
reels of 1" 911 EMTEC that I use pretty consistantly.
It's almost indistiguishable from GP9, which I also
have a bunch of, except that it sheds a bit less so
it's a bit nicer to your heads. It saturates quite
sweetly and sounds lovely! I just got some ATR 2"
stock but haven't used it yet. I've heard that it's
the same formula as Quantegy 499, but not from too
reliable a source. I can let you know as soon as I
track to it.

From all of my tests and input from our other facilities, it is the same as Quantegy 479 in performance. gino On Thu, Feb 21, 2008 at 7:51 AM, ceccles_ca

Having new production of magnetic tape in Pennsylvania is good news for
us analog geeks.
