Thanks. This is a bit embarrassing, I am not certain of the chords as it was a live improvisation. I think it started in e minor and it's mainly a mixture of descending 5ths and 4ths, it wanders around in F for a bit then ends in C. The sound is a mixture of the Mark II violins from Redtron and the tremolo strings preset from the  Synth 1 VST. I recorded it using Reaper and added some extra reverb in Audacity.

did you guys know that if you put your fingers on the keys and kinda do,  
like, every other key and sometimes a black one here and there you get a 
better  sound than when you push down a bunch that are right next to each other 
all at  once?

Simple chord theory isn't difficult, and for popular music at least you

construction- very interesting really, think I wrote like 15 songs  right 
after!!

Bernie I think it's holding down more than one key at a time.
Some arbitrary names were assigned to them by folks in the "way back  
times".
It's my guess, I could be wrong.

the keys repeat. I found this out when I couldn't find the keys of 'I' or 'V'

Simple chord theory isn't difficult, and for popular music at  least you 
don't need to know much, you could probably harmonize most  popular music with 
2 or 3 chords, 4 if you want to sound  sophisticated! There are loads of 
tutorials available on the net.

dummies" which covers nearly every chord you could think of  and "Music 
Composition for Dummies."

Some arbitrary names were assigned to them by folks in the "way  back 
times".

I've noticed that chords with wide intervals sound good, no matter what notes you use. Of course, "good" is purely subjective...but I have noticed that.

How much of an interval? Do you press one note and then wait for a period  
to press another, or do mean that you press a note and then another but with 
 several unpressed ones in between?

I meant lots of unpressed notes between pressed notes. For instance, G-C-F-B. I'm not near a keyboard, so I don't know how that really sounds, but I don't think it would sound dissonant.

Hi All
Once I know what the chords are for a song, and that can be tricky enough to find out, it's often a long process of trial and error with the inversions until it sounds remotely like the original.
All part of the fun though
