Season's Greetings Mr./Mrs.Bernie and Gang,

Been monitoring that M400 for the last five days. Yep, the bar has just been
raised. $5.1K unrestored ?? Wow !

Guess I'll reprint my "For Sale : Brooklyn Bridge" adverts again !

Cheers, -- JK (presently unrestored and priceless.....no bids yet)

Bernie/Jerry - it's quite bizarre - at that price, as a first time
purchaser, I'd be much more inclined to continue to save my funds and
make the purchase of either a MK VI or M4000 and know that I've got a
working machine, clear of any uncertain and undetermined restoration
costs.

In my humble opinion, once you get to a certain price point, you're
better off going all in and purchasing the next level up. Of course,
I was nowhere near that price point when buying 1407.

It has a good flight case, a protecto-muff and a volume pedal. The
cabinet has been partially restored. The price sounds about right to
me.

Most of the M400 owners around the world belong to a particular age
group. (The wild and crazy 45 to 60 year old club). There should be a
good supply of them for sale over the next 15 years, don't you think?

Agreed. This mellotron is not a good "raise the bar"
candidate. Lots of extras, good motor control and
upgrades and most importantly, location. As far as
mellotron owners being 45-60 year old crazies, not
true anymore. The indie rockers love them, so that
puts the trust fund kids and and the hardcore analog
guys in the mix, so to speak. Lots of indie bands and
engineers in and around Boston. Hell, I almost bid on
it. I'm not surprised.

That's true, Mike, unless you are using M-Tron samples in it. I think
$2,600.00 US seems a lot for a machine that is so limited. If the Nord is in the
same price range, I would certainly go with it. I also thing that M/A would pay
more attention to the quality of the samples that are in it. I've often
wondered why so many of the folks who sell samples seem to think that the
crappier they sound, the more authentic they are.

It seems obvious to me that when they were designed, Mellotrons were
intended to be reliable and at least somewhat consistent in their sound reproduction.

I thought they were around £4500.

in terms of value though, $5k for one that needs working on + the
shipping, they are still only going to have 3 sounds! when you can
have 24 tracks on the new one!

same as the moog voyger i would rather buy the new one for £2k than
one that's 20 + years old with all the problems associated with age.

i think it's different for an old hammond, i have the softsynth and a
couple of real hammonds, i still like the old ones...

i would sell my old restored novatron for a new one if the price
difference was close.

Doug, you do understand that this is an old bridge. It's not a floating
bridge and it can't be adjusted.

It's $9,223.20 USD for the next moment.

Re: [newmellotrongroup] Anyone know of a roland 301 space echo for sale

2007-12-12 by Rick Blechta

I have had the Re 20 for about a month. I love this pedal!! It works for
guitar, Mellotrons and synthesizers. It is laid out like a mini re201. I was
just playing with it tonight with my guitar, my mellotrons and lastly my Macbeth
M5. You can really dial in a great echo with all the parameters and it has a
new twist effect. This basically is the echoes increasing in speed and
timber. Think Steve Miller at the beginning of Fly like an eagle when the effect
speeds up in tempo and frequency as well. For US$ 249 you can't go wrong.
Really sounds sweet with mellotrons as you can dial in the delay you want for
that accurate echo/repeat rate and intensity.
Stores cannot keep them in stock. If you seriously
interested go to Harmony Central and read the user reviews. The reverb section
of the Re 20 I don't use as I have an old Premier 90 tube tank that sounds
fantastic!!
