Blue Mellotron exposes wood for the first time in 35 years or so... There
is still quite a bit of prep work to do. The machine in the cart goes in
it. The cabinet will be painted this coming weekend.

Ready? Aim...

I think it would look cool if the inside was kept blue and the outside was white with maybe blue trim. Obviously, not my machine or choice, but it would make this one have a certain chatacter not emulated by other Mellotrons.

What! The fact that it sounds great, holds pitch and has a feather-light
keyboard touch isn't enough?

Actually Bill, I have considered doing something like that. The problem is
that the blue you see is electric blue and could cause a seizure when the
cabinet is opened by the unsuspecting.

Well, what you could do is maybe dilute some white or gray paint and lightly coat the inside to lighten the blue. That way it's not as intense.

Currently there are 4 in the shop and two more due in by Friday. I also
have a black 400 and my M4000 in the next room. The 4-track is awaiting new
tapes and is in the midst of restoration. It should be ready to go in a week
or two. The white 400 just arrived and is awaiting disassembly. The rest
are in various stages of restoration. My shop is pretty large.
