is there a software switch in the M6R to enable sysex? i know that the mks-70 needs to be told to see this info every time it's used and these are both 'early' midi and poorly implemented to boot. z NEW ALLIANCE EAST!!!! -------------------------------------- http://www.newallianceeast.com http://www.newallianceaudio.com http://www.myspace.com/newallianceaudio http://www.c4rt.com www.myspace.com/thecampaignforrealtime ________________________________ From: Jonathan Carbody <jonathancarbody@yahoo.com> To: "oberheim@yahoogroups.com" <oberheim@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 9, 2011 9:43 PM Subject: [oberheim] looking for troubleshooting ideas JSynthLib/Ubuntu/Matrix6r Greetings Oberhiemers, I have a question: I recently dusted off my old oberheim matrix 6r and hooked it up to ubuntu 10.04 with a Edirol UM-1SX MIDI Adapter. I got the JSynthLib 0.20 and ran it. The program seems to run, but it's not controlling the synth. The midi cable is connected properly because I got Rosegarden talking to it. Sequences can be recorded and played back. Also if I boot up Windows XP I can run MidiQuest 10 XL and (it's buggy) but I can edit. So I think the hardware ports are working properly, but what's wrong? Maybe I'm missing something in the Java Virtual Machine to talk to the hardware? A java driver or something? I'm running ubu 10.04, with the sun jvm 1.5 or 1.6 which I thought had the midi drivers built in. I'd be grateful for any troubleshooting ideas. thx, JC.
