Subject: Re: [oberheim] how to load obxa presets from computer?
I originally posted this question to this group. I received the factory presets in a digital file and was told you could load these presets into the Oberheim via the output line of a computer. My tech tried this and no luck. I then received some advise that you need to boost this signal with an amp or preamp to get it to the right level to dump into the Oberhei. I've told this advise to my tech and he's tried to boost the computer's signal with an amp or a preamp but still the sounds from the computer file won't load. Apparently the problem's not with the Oberheim b/c he was able to dump some patches from another synth into it just fine. Any suggestions why this isn't working?

I've found that I need to give my computer's audio output an external boost of +6db or so in order to get a DMX to accept sequence dumps played back as wav files. This is with the computer volume levels at maximum. ; I think the cassette interfaces on the Xa and DMX are basically identical, so this may work for you. A mixing board, clean guitar booster or some other non-distorting amplifier can be used.

Hello: I received a file from someone from this forum that was to contain the factory presents for the OBXA. My synth tech tried to load these into my obxa using the headphone line from his computer and said he had some signal/amplitude problems and couldn't load these into the OBXA. If anyone out these has loaded presets back into their OBXA (or OB-8 for that matter) using a computer compared to a tape cassette player, would you please kindly give me any advise on how to make sure the voices load into the Oberheim? Thanks in advance for any help!
