Re: [oberheim] New member, with an OB-X request

Yes I think I do.
I actually bought Jaz's original OBX from him in 1980 several. He didn't use any of the factory patches, more on that story later. The OBXa is very close unless you particularly need the Xmod, and is limited to 32 programs. It may take me a while to find the box of cassettes with these patches on, it's been a few months since I transferred them to CD, and have moved a few times since. Where in the UK are you?

      Hi folks,

I recently acquired a four voice Oberheim OB-X and thought I'd join the

group. I've wanted an OB-X ever since I heard one used on Killing

Joke's "Night Time" album, and it's only taken me eighteen years to

fulfil that dream! I did have the opportunity to buy an OB-Xa

several years ago (allegedly, it was once owned by Lol Tolhurst of The

Cure), but passed it up in the hope of one day finding an OB-X.

Anyway, my main reason for posting is to ask if anyone can provide a

WAV file or similar of the factory patches. My Obie was completely

overhauled before I received it, erasing the patches. I'm having a

great time programming my own sounds, but I'd like to hear what the

original patches sounded like, and have the opportunity to use them as

the basis for further programming.

Regards,

Chris
