DSX question(s)

DSX question(s)

2011-02-23 by Nick Zampiello

hello OBERHEIM PEOPLE!

i'm rockin' an OB-8 ( Version B.5)with a DSX 2.99 and i have a few questions...

Hopefully someone can share some love and i can get my sequences edited a little
better!

1, so if i have several tracks recorded and i have the sequence looping.

can i turn off the countin?

i have that mode didabled but at it still waits 2 measures before looping back
to the beginning at the end of the sequence...

2, is there a concise way to quantize the length of a sequence to solid
measures?

i try to punch out on time but in loop mode it's never quite the perfect length
to stay in sync with any other gear...

PS: i was worried that it wouldn't synth to my non 96ppq system but it does not
care one bit. BONUS!

Thanks!

nick z

Hi Nick,

Not sure if you have the latest upgrade for the DSX as my "SYSTEM" is no longer in the house.

As I recall, you can COPY the sequence very easily so just copy as long as your song is and you don't have to worry about the glitch on the loop. Most all those old sequencers had a hic cup on the loop.

If you have a two bar sequence, APPEND it to the end of itself and next time it should be four bars and eight, sixteen and so forth so it goes quickly unless I have it confused with the op/sys of the DMX.

I did an entire album with the OBXa, DMX & DSX back in the 80's. Compared to today, it was a nightmare but people liked the results!

Hope this helps.

Charlie

P.S. I think I still have the EP Demo that was put out by Oberheim. It was cool!

Re: [oberheim] DSX question(s)

Thanks for the info!

i just wanted to get a new perspective on my process and the dsx was a good
deal. i don't like being at the computer making music so hardware is better.

plus i love a lot of old records that were done with the system too so i figured
it couldn't be bad right?

THANKS

z
