OBERHEIM SYNTH

I have heard that the Cream Face units were the latest and towards the 
end of the production.

The Cream Face units were supposed to have the latest SOftware a bit 
more updated over the black face units and more reliable Power supply.

Has anyone heard of reliability issues between the Cream Face units vs 
the BLack Face units?

I have 3 Cream Face units that all work 100% and are very reliable.

Someone on Ebay just sold a black face unit and put in his listing that 
the Cream Face units were near the end of the production line and they 
were making them cheaper and therefore less reliable.

Jeez what is a person to beleive?  IS there a link describing the 
differences and reliability issues?

I can't comment on the cream-faced units, but I have two black-faced 
ones, and they hum like crazy. They are easily the loudest instruments 
in my setup by far.

Fortunately, the hum doesn't make it into their audio signal, but there 
appears to be radiated emissions from the M1000 audio cables into 
surrounding equipment. As a result, I have to keep the M1000 audio 
cables as physically isolated from other audio cables as much as 
possible.
