Matrix-6 vs Matrix-1000: No Sysex for modulation matrix editing?

Matrix-6 vs Matrix-1000: No Sysex for modulation matrix editing?

2014-06-17 by jan@...

I always assumed that M-6 and M-1000 responded identically to Sysex, but it seems they are not that compatible - the Matrix-6 is not responding to remote editing commands for the Modulation Matrix. So it seems that the Sysex command for editing a MM path seems to be exclusive to the Matrix-1000 - I had a look at what I could find on the Matrix-6 because I couldn't believe it, and the command sequence is not there.

Can anybody confirm this: no remote editing of the Mod Matrix on the Matrix-6 - apart from sending a whole patch, that is?

Confirmed. M6 (and 6R) implement SYSEX commands 1..6, which means the following commands are exclusively for M1000:

08 Set Group Mode
09 Clear Group Mode
0A Set Bank
0B Remote Parameter Edit ******** THIS IS FOR MOD MATRIX ONLY ********
0C Unlock Bank
0D Single Patch to Edit Buffer
0E Store Edit Buffer

Basically, M6 SYSEX command 6 (Change Parameter) simply mimicks the behavior of pressing buttons on PATCH EDIT Page. Only parameters 0..99 are recognized.

Oh, do I know that site... :) Thank you for putting all that stuff together there, it's the best M-1000 resource on the web. Really looking forward to your homebrew firmware - have you tried to enlist Fetz, the author of the 1.1.3 patches?

PS. Whenever I visit your site, I dream of upgrading my Matrix-1000 with a 63C09 CPU and trying to switch to its performance-enhanced native mode. One day, maybe...
