nice to hear from a local member

since you too had Upscale Music repair your synth. Mario
 was

referred to me by the guys at Electronic Service Labs in

Weathersfield/Newington when I sought a repair person for
 a

tag sale find (Wurlitzer Model 100) that had a serious

ground hum problem (common for these) and I must say
 that

Mario reduced the noise by 70% without a complete

restoration and at a fair $. A Pigtronix
 "GateKeeper" has

done a fine job from there in silencing the electric
 piano

during recording. Last week I went in to pick up a
 Magnatone

Esty M50 that was DOA, Mario got it working with a new
 tube

and lots of cleaning of corroded connections, etc.. Next
 up

is the Matrix 6, seems like it may take awhile. I will
 refer

Mario to any tech in this group that may be (willing)
 able

to advise based upon the testing results up to this

  point....Thanks, Michael...203

O.K. the PC Control Board was replaced with a used board, had the display and patches working, now I am getting intermittent problems with the power switch and the display reads PW PPPPPPPPP or HHHHHHHHH. where can I find the descriptions for the error codes for the Matrix 6? Anyone know what these error codes indicate?...Thank You

Hi

I don’t know the error codes but my advice is to check the power supply voltages carefully. I found that minor variations (2-3volts) can cause weird things to happen in that synth.

Those are not error codes. It's the display reading crap. Try the initializer ion... Hold the red button, then power up. It should come up in calibration mode.

Happy to inform you that the Matrix 6 is now operational and sounding awesome. In my haste to install the used Display Board I overlooked the required keypad buttons which I lifted from the original defective board,a bit of cleaning, put the cover back on, the unit came back to life. Once again, thank you for your interest and suggestions in helping with the repair of this fine synth..with a minimal investment this Oberheim Matrix 6 will be used in my home studio for rehearsals and recording...
