Voice board for OBXA ....

Voice board for OBXA ....

2007-03-19 by gil_we

I've been given the opportunity to buy an OBXa which has one missing
voice board, for rather cheap... Do you think it would be possible to
find a voice board for it ? any source ?

Thanks

I've got two cards, but they both got a bit robbed
before I got them. Multiple Curtis chips required,
probably more expensive than we care to be involved
with.
Also it's worth bearing in mind that fixing these
synths up for reliable operation is really only for
the wealthy. The Molex connectors don't last, the
power supplies tend to fry their diode bridges etc.
The build quality of the boards was excellent, but
some of the service engineers have caused some
problems for the current admirers.

They do sound fantastic, only the Memorymoog does it
better, but are equally difficult to keep functional,
and cost abot three times as much to buy.
Nobody seems to have made the noises available any
other way either.
The bottom line is, can you afford to own it? It's a
bit like an old Jag XK I think.

10-4 on the upkeep being only for the wealthy on an OBXa!!!!!!!

I once sent mine from Florida to San Francisco on a Greyhound bus to
get it to the best OBy repair facility in the country. $$$$$$$$$

I finally GAVE it away. I have many gray hairs because of that SOB!
but when it was working, it was a monster.

I still have two Matrix 6-R's and an Xpander so the OBy sound is still
in my studio.

if the ob sx has the same board i may be able to help you with a
replacement. that would take some research but from what i gather
(analogue heaven archives)from the blue ob sx, they are the same.
though i wouldn't sell it cheap!

i am trying to find out if the boards can be turned into analogue
monosunths which would be nice too! (check other post)

Hi,

from what I read there are of the same "design" but I'm not sure if
that is to say they are compatible... maybe someone here will be able
to tell...

Move to quarantaine
