Hello from a newbie!

Hello from a newbie!

2008-07-01 by F.Manduca

Hi, everybody,

I am a new user of this group, writing from Italy. I wish somebody could help me, please: I have always been loving the Matrix1000, wishing to purchase one. I think I find out one in my hometown, but, after a careful test, in which the 99% of the functionality was ok,and the sounds and the filters was magical, I luckily noticed in the end, that a random note played less "fat" or having a strange behaviour, while the rest played marvellously. More strange, if I tried to play again the same "bad"note, after playing another "good" one, it sounded right, while another note that had sounded correctly before, now, running my finger on the keyboard, it sounds strange!!! I tried to test all the oscillators behaviour, playing a single"good sounding note" at least 8 times, and everything sounded ok! So I am puzzled between a bios or another chip failure, or simply ,and more wished option, a low battery, since I am almost sure that it has never been changed
during all the years it was in the music shop. Anyway, the display was on and shiny and the buttons on the panel did their work flying, when I pushed them during the test....Could I trust a machine like this? Maybe somebody noticed the same "trouble" on his Matrix1000, and maybe knows how to fix it.....Please, help!!
I hope I could have explained clearly myself.
Many, many thanks for answering me,

Francesco.

Hi Francesco -

Sounds like one of the voice chips is bad.

Try this - play the notes up the keyboard from one end to the other one at a
time and see if the bad note repeats itself every 6th note.

Also you can try reset the Matrix.

Hold the enter button while turning the Matrix ON.
