I had the same predicament a few months ago and nearly got conned into 
buying a Matrix 12 that didnt exsist .....So I ended up buying a real 
Xpander...

There are no differences between the two except the matrix 12 has the 
guts of 2 xpanders and a keyboard.... Obviously you can play around 
with six more voices in the 12 but there really is no need...There is 
no other synth like the Xpander in terms of depth of functionality 
unless you are going to go modular, and six voices in unison is almost 
too much with regards to thickness any more than that and you start to 
get phasing. I've never regretted buying it and most other synths 
around me have taken a back burner since I've had it (be warned its 
extremely easy to get lost in the void of playing with this thing). 
Anyway I hope that helps!??! You are more likely find an xpander anyway 
plus it will be a fair bit cheaper!.. Good luck which ever one you buy 
you will not regret it! Feel free to give me a shout if you have
