obxa dip swtch mod

obxa dip swtch mod

2008-09-22 by rzakrin

Hello, to the obxa folks out there, I'm considering replacing the
8voice dip switch that's under the hood with dedicated switches, one
for each voice, on the top panel. One reason I want to do this is
because when all eight voices are in unison, it's too much...
When I switch off 6 of the eight voices on the dip switch, it is an
awesome 2 voice monosynth. I know some might say get a monosynth
instead, but I have quite a few, and the ob sounds awesome in 2 voice.

There are a bunch more reasons, but has anyone done this or heard of
this? It looks like an easy mod.

?It'd be great if you could find a two position, six pole rotary switch to do this mod. That way, one switch could defeat the unwanted voices. The other nice thing about having a single rotary switch is that it could be mounted in a hole for an unused jack (like maybe a portamento or cassette jack) on the back panel. This will allow the mod to be reversed at a later date, with no damage to the synth's panel.
