Matrix-12 manuals

Matrix-12 manuals

2010-06-19 by jleroux2010

Hi

I am looking for the "Matrix-12 Owner`s Manual Supplement" that was included with the Matrix-12 Owner manual. It is listing all the 59 pages's display (diagrams) for programming the Matrix-12.

Any idea where can I find a copy in PDF format?

Thank you.

Hello jleroux2010:

I am a new user to the group and will contribute where I can.

When I got my Matrix-12, I received a Preliminary Operations Guide, of about 30 pages. Later, Oberheim shipped me a full Matrix-12 Owner's Manual, about 200 pages. Still later, after the retro fit, they gave me a Pressure Sensitivity Owner's Manual Addendum. I have (paper) copies of all of these.

I am not familiar with a supplement such as you describe. Could it be one of the ones I listed above?

Hi Joigaloid,
Thank you for your feedback about the manuals.

Is it possible to confirm if the "Preliminary Operations Guide"
shows all the layouts for each of the 59 pages and sub-pages?

Thank you.

Hi jleroux2010:

Unfortunately, the Preliminary Operations Guide doesn't seem to contain what you describe (if I understand correctly). The guide has about a dozen or so illustrations of what the Matrix-12 VFD displays show during various operations, but nowhere near a full 59 illustrations of all the pages and sub-pages. The Preliminary Operations Guide is really a small subset of what was later published in the full Matrix-12 Owners Manual.

I will post a sample in the files section if you think it will clarify what I mean.

Good luck on your search! If I come across something that matches your description, I will post it here.

Hi Joigaloid

Thank you very much for your feedback.

If the illustrations in this manual are the same as in the full Matrix-12 manual, then this manual is useless for me.

I am doing a comparison between the Xpander and the Matrix-12 owner's manuals for the Single Patch Options (VCOs, VCF, VCA, ENVs, LFOs, TRACKs, RAMPs).

Is it true that most of the Pages 2 options are mostly ON/OFF parameters?

I will upload the Xpander Patch Sheet that was published by Craig Anderton in Electronic Musician - January 1988 into the Matrix-12 docs.

Thanks.

Re: Matrix-12 manuals

2010-07-19 by Joigaloid

Hi jleroux2010:

It took me a while, but I finally was able to scan and upload the Matrix 12 Preliminary Operation Manual. It is under the Matrix-12 Docs folder and has filename "Matrix12PrelimOpGuide.7z". In spite of the funny filename, it should unzip fine into a pdf file.

As you can see from the first couple of pages, this manual was meant to be used with a Matrix-6 manualas a reference. It highlights the differences between the -12 and the -6 and the matrix-12 unique operations.

I looked briefly at your uploaded patch sheet. Since the individual voice architecture is the same between the M6 and M12, I can think of any reason offhand you can't use the sheet for M12 single patches.

... you're sending me back. I was a subscriber to Electronic Musicion back in 1988, read a lot of Craig Anderton's stuff. I wonder if I still have is music cassette in the closet somewhere...

Anyway, hope this helps!

Regards,

Hi Andre,

Thank you very much for the manual.

Actually, it is about the Xpander and the Matrix-12, I think the Matrix-6 came after the Matrix-12.

And Craig Anderton was one of my gurus... I strill have lots of
his writings in Guitar Player and Keyboard Magazine. I may have a few of his cassettes ...

Re: Matrix-12 manuals

2010-07-28 by Joigaloid

Ah..yes, you're right, I meant the Xpander rather than Matrix-6. I guess I was thinking 6 voices vs 12. Serves me right for posting late at night.

So yes, the Matrix-12 prelim manual was shipped along with an Xpander manual. Later, the finished the Matrix-12 maual and shipped to me, so I have all of them. The Xpander manual is a lot thicker than the Matrix-12 prelim operating guide, and the Matrix-12 manual is a lot thicker than the Xpander manual. So, I could scan them if needed, but I'll have to break the scans into multiple small files.

I'll scan them if you or anybody here really needs them. Just beware that I operate very slowly....
