Can you suggest some good replacement pots and switches?

Can you suggest some good replacement pots and switches?

2009-12-21 by f115@rocketmail.com

I'm trying to track down a solid list of equivalents to replace a handful of pots. Just wondering what you're all putting into yours. I'd like to find decent quality but I would have the budget for, say, Grayhill price point pots.

Thanks!

You might want to check with this guy, certainly for stocks of switches. He
does a complete kit of 19, which is handy:

Might have to wait until after Xmas though!

Actually I've used him before for some Roland parts. He's a great seller. The switch kit looks good, though I wonder if any different than other tact switches one could buy locally. The immediate parts I'm after are the pots: 2 volume pots, some others. Any suggestions for those? He seems out of the originals but I'd be happy with a modern equivalent. Any thoughts on those?

Best ~

Hi M,

I believe you can get the tactile switches from Mouser (www.mouser.com).
They are made by ALPS Electric and have the part number 688-SKHCBHA010. The
pots are regular 10K linear types (check the manual!) but the problem you
always slam into is that they have right angled legs. I have myself, in the
past, used off the shelf straight legged or tagged type and have run hard
wires down to the PCB below. Not ideal, but needs must sometimes. You never
know, someone in the forum might have some other ideas!

Cheers,
Andy

Aha. Ok. I'll pull one of those boards out this week and have a look. I haven't checked the top PCBs out for years and years. It certainly seems that one can get away with any standard pot but I thought maybe there was a particular brand everyone swears by to maintain these.

I'll see what I find. I'd like to get half way decent replacements if possible.

Thanks Andy!
