I love 12 bit sound, so the p2k is tempting. well actually the 12 bit sampling capabilities of the P2K are pretty good and not necessarily all the gritty If you have to get one, consider a Prophet 2002 rack unit for around $100 +/- that's not a lot of bucks the other thing to consider is to find a (now discontinued) Alesis BitRman which is a stereo bit reduction effects box with which you can dial in the trash/grit of your hearts content on any synth you've got, I'm sure there are other bit reduction boxes out there too! as an example I put the BitrMan on an old Yamaha TX81Z (which is so cliche 70's) and then crank it and it is way way sick
