P2K vs microkorg:a question

P2K vs microkorg:a question

2005-02-21 by microkorger

Should I trade my microkorg for a p2k? I love the idea of a sampling
synth.

thanks, Andreas

Thanks for the feedback. I love 12 bit sound, so the p2k is tempting.
I read about it and it said that you can sample and tweak the sounds,
and it has like 30 seconds of time.I like grimey, gritty "dirty" type
of sounds, and I love sampling--- In

In monetary terms, the microkorg is worth more (Prepal lists a p2k at $245). ; I have both the p2k and a microkorg, and I use the microkorg way more than the p2k. The microkorg is part of my performance rig along with a Nord Electro and Kawai K4. well actually the 12 bit sampling capabilities of the P2K are pretty
good and not necessarily all the gritty

If you have to get one, consider a Prophet 2002 rack unit for around
$100 +/- that's not a lot of bucks

the other thing to consider is to find a (now discontinued) Alesis
BitRman which is a stereo bit reduction effects box with which you
can dial in the trash/grit of your hearts content on any synth you've
got, I'm sure there are other bit reduction boxes out there too!

as an example I put the BitrMan on an old Yamaha TX81Z (which is so
cliche 70's) and then crank it and it is way way sick
