This is what I thought. So if the presets are permanently stored and can't be written over, then a p2000 machine which only plays maybe half of the presets must obviously have something wrong with the ROM, right? Plus, I have tried just accessing the internal sounds directly and only 1-8 work, 9-16 don't. So would getting a new rom probably solve this?
