]]]]]] > This is what I thought. So if the presets are permanently stored and can't be written over, then a p2000 machine which only plays maybe half of the presets must obviously have something wrong with the ROM, right? i have version 1987 - 2002 v.4.0 of the rom , 16 voices sound from turn on , without disk in drive. can you transfer banks and make the non working voice banks work by copying individually program/patch / sample etc to the non working ones? this then will check if its the rom or the ram... i think you have to check leads on main board , clean contacts , and do some general regular maintance then maybe will work correctlly.. i think the manaul says that only version three and higher support internal preset voices which are loaded upon start up,, the other roms don't... do you do much sys ex stuff? maybe i can just send you a whole sys ex dump in midi format and this can be sent to the p-2000 reinitiating the voices and set up... ]]]]]]]]]] Plus, I have tried just accessing the internal sounds directly and only 1-8 work, 9-16 don't. So would getting a new rom probably solve this? i don't think so the rom would hold alot more than just samples , you have any samples of your own to trade? ]]]]]] I've asked this before in here and never really got anything resembling an actual answer.... > > well hopr to help my volume was skakey when i first got mine , that affected output , along with loose midi ports which made recieving and transmitting notes a real rough edge.. eventually i brought back to life after remounting the disk drive and soldering alot of the circuit board... but who wants to live with problems right ? not me.. so i did it,, its done and now sequential is good to go..it rocks , i use once in a while and i have made great many disks and couple good songs with it...but it took acouple years , just can't bring back and restore that classic 1985 car over nite now can we? charles
