the original 2002 drive died, so i picked up a suitable replacement on ebay

same thing, ...drive powers up, disc takes a spin and then 'nd'
since that drive only cost me $10, i decided id try buying another
suitable replacement off ebay (different model than the first), that i also jumper configured correctly and got the the same result ...'nd'
i tried switching things around a bit but sort of gave up on it at that point
im still over $40 ahead of the $70 whine country wanted for a new one,
so i figured eventually ill try getting another one off ebay sometime
and repeat the process, but i really couldnt find a reason why those drives werent functioning
this discussion has rekindled my interest in getting my 2002 going again
i put a ton of work into sampling back in the late 80's/early 90's
and id like to revisit some of those sounds
...heres hoping help arrives!
