Mounting HxC2001, and using with floppy

Mounting HxC2001, and using with floppy

2016-01-18 by me@...

I recently got one of those HxC2001 floppy emulators, and it works fine. What I want to do is connect both it and the floppy to the P2K, with a "splitterr" cable, and a switch to control which device gets power. Has anyone tried that, and did it work?
I'm also wondering where is the best place to mount the HxC2001. It is the "Rev C" model, with the blue display on top. Right now, I'm considering mounting it on top, above the floppy.
My purpose in having both the HxC2001 and the floppy is, if I get a new sample disk, I can read it in with the floppy, flip the switch, and save it to my SD card.

In principle the idea is sound.
But rather than the power connection, the switch should toggle the drive select line.
In this way both the real and emulated disk drive can be 'legally' connected to the floppy controller
at the same time. This is how PC's and other (earlier) computer worked with two disks.

It's nice to hear that the HxC2001 works with the P2000, but I find that floppy emulator a bit
expensive. I read recently that the author of the HxC2001 software (not the HW manufacturer)
has/will released a version that works with the cheaper chinese devices from Gotek.

The above solution is what I plan to implement, when I (finally) get around to transcribing my floppy
library to SD card / USB stick.

Have you tried the editor from this site:
http://synth.curlsystems.de/Prophet2012/Prophet2012.html
It provides another way to save your library, among other things. I use it with this MIDI-USB adapter:
http://www.creative.com/emu/products/product.aspx?pid=19089
It works fine, but it is slower than a floppy. But at least you could save your library (in case your floppies are destroyed).

I have tried the Prophet2012 SW about a year ago when I resurrected my sampler - It looks really good, but unfortunately does not work with the firmware (v4.0) version in my P2000. I've been meaning to ask the author if he's willing to open source the code.
