Having problems loading P2K discs?

Having problems loading P2K discs?

2005-11-24 by jarrre909

Hi all!
Though I would quickly post for anyone who may have the same troubles
I did. I have only recently owned a P2000..it came with about 30
discs...of which only about 10 I was able to load. I thought they
failed because of their age losing magnetism over time. Only when I
tried last night to format discs did I realise the problem was also
the drive. So after much great info for posts I read here I tracked
down a TEAC drive...changed jumpers..and it works! Now almost all 30
discs load...and the drive formats as well.

Thanks for all the tech help I found here on this list!

Cheers,

michael

congrats on your new drive.....BTW you can still find DS/DD discs on
eBay for about $3-4 a box

the other thing I discovered is that if they are formatted to 720K on a
PC they do NOT work....I format them on an old Macintosh with a floppy
to Mac 800K on that and they go right into the P2002

you can find an old mac with a floppy for $30-50 if you shop around

Thanks! I was lucky to have found a drive so quickly.
Re: disks....I didn't have any DS DD disks around...so I tried HD ones with the 2nd hole covered...formatted them to 720K in DOS..then to the sampler to format with the Prophet. Them seems to load and save fine....have used the compare feature after save with no errors appearing. Maybe the 2002 is a bit different....seems like every machine has it's own personality and chooses to do its own thing!
Cheers,
michael
