Sound Designer: What Mac do I need to run this?

Sound Designer: What Mac do I need to run this?

2005-11-04 by treplacements90

Hello, a special thank-you for anyone that can help me out even the
smallest. I'm having a hard time grasping the loop editing, so I
thought using Sound Designer would save me alot of time, and be easier.
I don't have a Mac, so I'm looking into buying one. First off though,
can I just buy and old Apple Mac and use that? Like the ones from say
1984-on or does it have to be a special one...if anybody could tell me
exactly what Macs I could use, I'd greatly appreciate it. Also what
other equipment would I need to buy to transfer my samples to and from
the Mac? I read there was a Mac-to-MIDI interface, is this true? Sorry,
I'm kinda new to the game, and need all the info I can get. So if
anyone has any info on the Sound Designer, please I'd love to hear
something back from you. I do really appreciate everyone's time and
such, again thanks and have a good one...-L.J.-

Yeah I was thinking probably anything form that time period would work.
Yes a G4 would be awesome to have, sadly I don't have the money to buy
one at this time, eventually though. The old Macs are going for like
$25-$40 bucks, so I thought I might as well try it...Thanks for your
input :-)

Hi - Shame you're not in the UK - I have an older Powermac 6100 on Ebay (around \ufffd10) which should work as it worls with my Emulator II Sound Designer.
Any Mac II series or early Powermac will do.
Regards
Paul

All you need is a 68000 based Mac. Mac SE, Mac Classic, the original
portable would all work if you can find them. Where are you located?
I may have an old "luggable" in the garage but it would definitly
need a new battery. These units won't startup with just the power
adapter. A Mac Classic II just sold for $20 on ebay.

I've got a P2000, with 512k of RAM, Mac Classic and original MIDI
interface that I'm going to be selling. I just never use it.

They were both fine last time I used them but I'd want to power them
up before giving you an everything works. The only trouble I had
with the P2k was the floppy which I did replace. I still get read
errors on some discs right when the unit is turned on but it seems
to get better after it's been on for awhile.

I'm in San Jose Ca.
