Disk formatting issues

Disk formatting issues

2007-04-13 by dnaflr2

I am following the instructions for formatting a disk in my Prophet
2002, and keep getting the "iF" error. It is a DOS formatted 1.44mb HD
disk. I tried covering the protect ntch with tape, and no improvement.
Is it possible to use this type of disk?

I have an upgraded Prophet with more memory, and OS, but it does not
have the 8 outs.

Thanks,
Josh

I haven't had any luck using 1.44 disks, tape or no tape. But in reply to
the iF message,if I recall it stands for incorrect format...the way
around the message is to simply format the disk, display the F and hit
execute.

Best thing to do is get real DSDD floppies on eBay, they are cheap, also I found that if you use an old Mac to do the first format on the disks they go in perfect no addtional reformat needed, You can get old Macs for $20 or less ....the DSDD structures of MAC and PC file systems are apparently different

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
