anyone breaking up a 2000 for parts?

anyone breaking up a 2000 for parts?

2007-05-02 by duncan

I know, I know- it would be a terrible thing to do to a working
machine. I'm kind of hoping that someone out there has a train-wreck
of a 2000 with some or all of the insides intact.
the chip I need is unique to the 2000, does not feature in the 2002
or, as far as I know, any other keyboard. it's the keyboard controller
IC... but I would probably just take the whole board, in case
something else on my controller card was responsible for mine failing.
I love that keyboard. I use the 2002 a lot for instruments, but
there's something even better about having the keyboard version to
work up nice instrument samples on.
I am /this close/ [holds thumb & forefinger together] to constructing
some sort of frankenstein solution with a vanilla midi keyboard inside
the 2000's case & hooked up through a merge box. but really I'd rather
restore it. I am in london, UK, but willing to pay for shipping & (if
necessary) your local tech to dismantle the bits I need out of the
dead 2000 you've just remembered in your attic..... :-)

>>Whole, working and give me an offer i can´t refuse.<<

that's me out, then. I don't want to buy a working one, because then
I'd still have my broken one. I'm looking for one that's maybe got
something bad wrong with the mobo or is cosmetically challenged- I
really only want the kybd controller board (front left, next to the
keyboard).
I DON'T want anyone to break a working machine for me. :-)
