Yes. I haven't done this on a P5 but I have repaired the Shadow switches on other gear. You really have to remove the whole switch from the PCB. Pop the cap (comes off easily) and pull out the LED - however the LED leads are also the switch leads so you have to get 'em really clean of solder to pull out easily. Slide in a new LED and replace the cap. As I recall, the led polarity is indicated on the switch. Resolder the switch back in to the board. To do it without removing the switch from the PCB requires a lot of dexterity with a very fine tip soldering iron. You cutoff the led body, lever up the old leads and solder the new led on. There is very little room for solder joints and the chances are you will end up with some molten plastic :-) I've never done this on a P5 but I tried it once on another piece of gear and gave up, going back to method 1 as quicker and easier. Good Luck! mw P.S. Somebody (chipforbrains?) was selling P5 switched on eBay last week. -----Original Message----- From: gojko_mitic [mailto:enn.terminal@...] Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 6:25 AM To: vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com Subject: [vintagesynthrepair] Prophet-5 Front panel LED switches Hi, Does anyone know whether Prophet-5 front panel LED switches can be disassembled? I have some switches with dead LEDs, is it possible to replace them? Best regards, Yahoo!
