RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Squeaky keys on a Wurlitzer electronic organ - what to do?

2004-03-28 by Keith Niver

It's probably the return spring on the back of the key. It may need just a
touch of lubrication or reseating in the back of the key. These are
individual keys. If it's the keys that come in octave strips, then that's
another problem. Have never hear of those keys squeaking though. Do you know
the model number of the organ.

There might be some kind of rubber key guide underneath the keys to dampen
the movement of the keys up and down and right to left. I had a similar
thing happen on an odyssey I own.

My mother has a Wurlitzer electronic organ (circa 1970) whoose keys are
making an extra squeaking or rubbing noise when they are pressed and I
am wondering what sort of maintenance the organ might require to
correct this. I hear the squeaking/rubbing when listening to her play
while I am in the same room and find it most annoying when I make audio
recordings as my microphones are picking this up as extra noise.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
