Hi Daniel Not normally to be recommended as these connectors are usually plated with some form of precious metal, could be gold, rhodium or silver. Wirewool will remove this plating and the connectors will probably give a lot more trouble in a short time. The correct method of cleaning is to use a contact cleaner/lubricant. I only hope you haven't done too much damage.
