RE: [vintagesynthrepair] Re: minimoog problem! -fixed

2005-05-06 by Brian Davies

Hi Daniel

Not normally to be recommended as these connectors are usually plated with
some form of precious metal, could be gold, rhodium or silver. Wirewool
will remove this plating and the connectors will probably give a lot more
trouble in a short time. The correct method of cleaning is to use a contact
cleaner/lubricant.

I only hope you haven't done too much damage.

Regards

Brian

hi!

just wanted to let y'all know how i fixed my mini!

i screwed off the bottom plate and inspected it... as i couldn't seen
anything wrong i unplugged the connecter form the keyboard to the
rest of the of the synth! it was really oxidiced, so i decided to try
to clean it with some steelwool! after i did that and put everything
baco together my minimoog is playing perfectly again!!!!

i decided to go ahead and do the same thing with all the connectors!
it made my mini less noisy and more stable!

-just wanted to let you know

Daniel
