Hmm....not sure how to get a trigger off of a cymbal. About 25 years ago we used to make our own synth drums by glueing a small speaker (transistor radio size) to the under side of a bongo drum head. Then, with a small amplification circuit, we used that to trigger an ARP Odyssey synth. Drummer thought it was cool as heck when he could hit that bongo with his drumstick and get that disco synth drum sound. Now I'm giving away my age....
