Trigger Happy?

Trigger Happy?

2002-01-15 by steven burnett

howdy,
there is probably a simple way to do this, but alas, i cannot think of
it.. my goal is to have a trigger set up to the actual hi-hat cymbals on a
drum kit. i would like this so i can trigger a bass keyboard.. the notes
would be manipulated by the keyboardist, but triggered by the hi-hat..
anyway, the keyboards i would like to use are either my Korg MS-20 or Micro
Moog. any ideas? i appreciate it!

Hmm....not sure how to get a trigger off of a cymbal. About 25 years
ago we used to make our own synth drums by glueing a small speaker
(transistor radio size) to the under side of a bongo drum head. Then,
with a small amplification circuit, we used that to trigger an ARP
Odyssey synth. Drummer thought it was cool as heck when he could hit
that bongo with his drumstick and get that disco synth drum sound. Now
I'm giving away my age....
