Plastic knobs on plastic shafts.  No trick -- they come off hard but
they'll come off.  Pull both sides of the knob flange evenly so you
don't damage the pot.  Use a smear of silicone grease when
reassembling to prevent a recurrence.  The low-end Fender amps were
really built to a price point; the knob engineering seems pretty good
compared to the phone jacks . . .
