Fender amp repair

2008-12-17 by Wilf Dell

Anyone got any experience with Fender amps?
I´m trying to fix one for a friend, and I can´t figure out how to get
the knobs off the pots to take the circuit board out. Sounds like a
silly one, but it´s got my stumped... no screws that I can see...
   Cheers

Plastic knobs on plastic shafts. No trick -- they come off hard but
they'll come off. Pull both sides of the knob flange evenly so you
don't damage the pot. Use a smear of silicone grease when
reassembling to prevent a recurrence. The low-end Fender amps were
really built to a price point; the knob engineering seems pretty good
compared to the phone jacks . . .

I've heard of taking string and making 2 loops and placing it under the knob and having the ends come out on oposite sides so you can pull evenly from both sides to pull up the knob, you grip it close to the knob and use leaverage by placing your closed hand on the instrument and rolling your fists,I've never had to try this but it is something I heard of.
