It sure sounds like new strips are the cure to me. lorne From: vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com [mailto:vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Roger J Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2012 1:22 PM To: vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [vintagesynthrepair] Kurzweil K2600; keys not triggering Yes, very common failure on keyboards with rubber contacts. You will either find debris under it or the contact is torn. Replacement is always best and in the long run cheaper. The contacts are FATAR and used on Korg(X5 for one), Rolands made in Italy, all Fatars and Studio Logics, Waldorf, Virus, M-audio(a Chinese copy), Nords, to name a few. Cost $4 to 9 per group of 12 notes. It is also possible that you have a cable or circuit board problem, if you a group of 8 in a row or a fault every 8th key, you could have a circuit issue. Random here and there without a math base of 8 is bad rubber contact or damage contact pad or crack at the pad or broken diode. _____ From: snowleopard <ppg223@...> To: vintagesynthrepair@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2012 12:56 PM Subject: [vintagesynthrepair] Kurzweil K2600; keys not triggering Anyone have experience with a Kurzweil K2600(s)? I have one that has a few keys that do not trigger on/off. The synth will produce those sound internally (via Midi) and the keyboard is sending out MIDI aftertouch on those keys, but not on/off at any velocity. This started with one key, then that key came back to life. Then it went out a week later, now 2-3 more keys. I have a suspicion it's dirt/dust/grit, but before I rip the thing apart, I want to talk to someone who has pulled the hood off. I took apart a couple old analog synths, but want to get some advice before opening this beast. Any and all comments appreciated.
