A Host of ARP Omni Problems

2003-01-12 by Timothy Hansen <nationwideclyde@hotmail.

As my DW8000 is sidelined, I figured I'd fire up the ARP Omni Mk1 I
bought on eBay for $95, some repair necesary.

Well, here's what's wrong so far. First, I don't notice any
difference at all with the Voice buttons on the right. The Bass
keys...most of them Do Not Work. The polysynth string section seems
to be ok except for dead top note, but the bass keys have all kinds
of problems. Some work, some interrupt a working note, some do
nothing, and one or two of them actually modulate a working note.
Bottom C has gone vibrato, no notes sound through low G, wich is the
one that cross-modulates other notes, low F is the first note with no
sound that will cut out a higher working bass key...etc... the Attack
and Release sliders on string section do Nothing...LFO Speed slider
is REAL touchy, all the range of it seems to be on the very rightmost
of the slider, Master Volume switch, in addition to being snapped off
flush with the panel, also does nothing. Chorus Phaser also does
nothing. Also, half the slider caps on the top row are gone along
with the caps for the Cello and 8' buttons. Also, buttons tend to
stick.

On the plus side...none of the keys are cracked off as is common on
old ARP's...

So, did I get soaked for $95? ($70 + $25 ship?)

What must I do?
