hohner string performer;only the bass works?

Howdy! anyone ever work on one of these? plenty of signal coming out of the bass side,hardly anything from the rest of it. my friend Scott (the one doing the actual work) looked over the schematics,and is convinced that adding a volume pedal would fix it. i'm not so sure. any and all help would be appreciated,thanks -george
