Updating my way of selling synth parts. Anyone used google checkout?

Updating my way of selling synth parts. Anyone used google checkout?

2010-07-22 by Robert Weigel

Recently a prick filed a paypal complain of non-delivery after only 13 days when he's in England and I'm in Montana. Many of you probably know me as the person who put up the key cross reference guide for synth keys, and a lot of chips and other parts and a lot of free synth repair tips on the template pages for every significant production synth pretty much. The issue with avexproducer@... or primeproducer@... hasn't worked out. I'm quite sure he must have the keys by now that I sent what June 12th I think it was. No word from him or the guy who was going to check on him. So that's it. Nobody uses paypal from now on to order form me. This is a sad thing but maybe better in the long run. It appears google checkout has a better protocol for handling disputes. It's a lie that the buyer is always right. In this case the buyer sent me 7 dollars which didn't even cover the shipping but I was being nice I thought to him... he thanked me by stealing all 68.00 using paypals refusal to accept a customs number as proof of shipment. WARNING. Avoid this guy. Someone else emailed me and told me I'm not the first person he's done this to.

I wonder if he is on this mailing list?

Maybe he could come forward and tell his side of the story.

It does really suck that paypal almost always sides with the buyer.. ughhh.

Hi Rob,
I'm very sad to hear about this issue. I guess (non-poor) robbers are all over the world making life much more difficult to others. Another bad thing is that then, even the good guys have to suffer due to the friendly service always given having to be 'tightened-up'.
But I believe that guys like these who do these things (stealing keys) one day will find the 'right shoe' that fits them!
Please keep up your good work and friendly nice service Rob to us all others.
With thanks,
Noel Buhagiar

If you sent your items out tracked and signed for using a minimum of USPS
International Priority, this cant happen. Customs numbers are only traceable on
this service and above (like Int. Express).

Sadly it's my experience that when you go out of your way to accommodate a
buyer, it usually comes back and bites you in the butt.

Apologies from the UK for your trouble.

Philip

This is not my experience. I use USPS I.P. regularly and it's (a) slow, and
(b) useless tracking.

(a) Takes 3 weeks easily to get to Europe.
(b) More times than not the tracking gets stuck at "accepted" and only
rarely is it updated further.

For example I only have the one out now, but see:
http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/InterLabelInquiry.do?origTrackNum=LJ645791504US

It will probably stay like this forever, even after delivery. This allows
the buyer to protest even after they receive the item.

Well I can tell straight away the number you supplied there is airmail
letter post as it starts with LJ. It's not Priority Mail International.

LJ prefix numbers are not traceable..not signed for...nor accepted by Paypal.

All Priority Mail International or Express numbers start with CP prefix and are
signed for and fully trackable to the door. They are delivered in the UK by
Parcelforce, not the post office like letter post.

Here's the number of a parcel from the US I recently received: CP275750975US, it
will track to my door on the USPS site and the parcelforce site. It took 10 days

with a hold up in customs, which is about right.

Philip.

Dishonest people are out there and in my opinion paypal helps them steal.
I stopped using paypal (as a seller) about 3 years ago.
Less issues of all types since I switched to Google Checkout.
I have only good things to say about GC.
I've had 1 charge-back attempted fraud and GC's process was easy, prompt and very fair.
I provided the tracking # showing that the item was delivered and the matter was resolved in my favor promptly.
GC PAYS direct to your chosen bank account in 2-3 business days and has good online transaction software.
Paypal and ebay just keep getting less and less seller friendly.

My .02,
Ron

I have to agree with GB here as I have been shipping overseas for many
years and have problems all the time. It has given my little company a
bad rap, I wish we never agreed to ship overseas.

I have had more problems with delivery than Pay pal, there is an
amount of loss you take on every year but that margin seems to be
growing.

Priority international does NOT have any such tracking, I am not sure
where you got this but it's not true...in my neck of the woods anyway.
I have found that USPS Global priority is the only real form of
shipping that the USPS offers with REAL tracking and insurance.

My post office says that priority international is trackable only to the border and they can not track outside of the USA,there are too many bad post offices out of the USA especially in south america,I sent a service manual to Poland once and the buyer never got it,I got it returned to me as undeliverable ONE YEAR LATER,I've also had many items not delivered and lost when sending to Brazil.

I get bad feedback or disputes in about 1 out of every hundred manuals I send out and I always wonder if the person got the manual and is trying to get a free ride.some people are just crooks or impatient meanies,I've even had email arrive a couple of days after it was sent(it must have been floating around in cyberspace)I've also had shipments to the UK take as little as 5 days and up to 5 weeks by USPS Priority mail and I had 2 minimoog manuals completely disappear going to England, similar experiences shipping to Australia.what really stinks is after the person receives the item Paypal still keeps the funds held up if the receiver does not close the dispute,I had one person get their money back after the item was delivered and I called Paypal and was told that they could not do anything about it because the transaction was international.
here is a link to an actual story about late mail delivery.

My last response seems to be lost in the Ether (coincidence? I think not). Anyway, perhaps the solution is to select signature confirmation? It costs more, can be a headache for the recipient (if they are not home), but it could solve our problems. Anyone doing this?

I have a friend who uses Google Checkout, and she has no complaints.

I accept Paypal through my parts store, and it's the only method of payment I'll accept on eBay. (I had too many problems with money orders sent from other countries.)

99.9% of my shipping via USPS is done online these days. I have the option of having USPS send the buyer an email that details the shipping info. Even if the shipment doesn't include a tracking number, it at least offers proof that the item was sent.

Is it? I think that's what people are complaining about. In my case USPS often just says "Electronically Notified" or similar *forever*. All the recipient has to do is say they never received it and I have no proof I actually mailed it. I'm certainly not going to wait in line at the Post Office in order to add on extra services that yield more info though.
